Mind and Body

"The purpose of training is to tighten up the slack, toughen the body, and polish the spirit." - Morihei Ueshiba

In today's society, mental illness is a vast growing health condition that affects thousands of people in the United States. It is said by the year 2020, depression will be the 2nd leading cause of death! Luckily the best and most natural way to fight against mental illness is with exercise. Daily exercise not only helps improve your body, but it also can drastically improve your mind as well. Daily exercise is seen to have a positive influence on well-being while decreasing depression and anxiety. Aerobic activities such as running and anaerobic activities like weight lifting both have been seen to reduce anxiety levels.

- Group Classes

Group classes have a bunch of psychological benefits as well! First, group classes are a great way to help build motivation and boost confidence levels by having other individuals next to you all with the same goals. Group classes also provide great social support and a way to create new friendships with others.

Workout climates have been found to significantly benefit an individuals overall workout experience. Motivational climates that are task involved based have been found to positively benefit individuals perceived physical self concept, happiness, and hope. A subsection of motivational climate being a caring climate, is filled with workout instructors who genuinely care for their clients and try to push and motivate them to succeed while being extremely supportive. Here members are made to feel valued and important while their actual improvement is recognized not how much weight they can bench or squat. You can find this type of climate in almost all group workout classes making them extremely beneficial to everyone!
